crush

Crush develops her work by crushing liquids onto canvas. Usually common every day items bought at local stores. Everything from coffee to tomatoes, to Pepto-Bismol. She said it is the color she is trying to capture in it's most 'unpure form.'

Originally from Warwickshire England, she moved to Los Angeles in 1981 to further her interest in fine art. Her biggest influences are Rothko and Frank Stella.

'Crush' was the name she gave herself because of her deep love crush for simplicity and the almost violent 'punk-like' crushing method that she uses to develop her seemingly simplistic work. The finshed pieces are mezmorizing to experience in-person. Each piece has a power and stillness that comes from disiplined consistent work to arrive at these zen-like hypnotic pieces.
